John McCaskill

About the Artist

John McCaskill is an award-winning artist, master printmaker, design consultant, and art instructor. His career reflects a lifetime of dedication to creative exploration. Based today in St. Pete Beach, Florida, McCaskill’s work draws upon a wealth of travel, study, and artistic practice, weaving traditional printmaking techniques with painting, appliqué, and modern design elements.

McCaskill pursued his education at the University of California, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of Nevada, Reno. He was an art instructor at the Honolulu Art School and has taught numerous printmaking and art workshops. His evolving style reflects a deep engagement with both traditional techniques and contemporary aesthetics.

McCaskill’s work resides in esteemed public, private, and corporate collections worldwide, with notable acquisitions by the State of Hawaii. His fine art and illustration have also appeared in respected publications, including features by Patagonia.

Throughout his journey, McCaskill has remained deeply involved in the artistic community, serving as President of the Honolulu Printmakers, a member of the California Society of Printmakers, a founding member of the Pacific Island Printmakers, and a member of the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance.

After living in California and Hawaii, McCaskill returned to his Florida roots in 2022. From his private workspace, Studio Jomac, located on Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach, he continues to explore the layering of image, texture, and form — creating vibrant mixed-media works inspired by the natural world, wayfaring traditions, and the spirit of discovery.

His layered mixed-media works offer distinctive, site-specific solutions that enhance and personalize a wide range of environments. Studio Jomac is the private working studio of artist John McCaskill, located in the heart of St. Pete Beach, Florida. Here, McCaskill brings his mixed-media visions to life, layering printmaking, painting, and appliqué techniques into distinctive, original works.

Far from a traditional gallery, Studio Jomac serves as a sanctuary for collaboration and creative exploration — a place where ideas evolve through hands-on craftsmanship and thoughtful experimentation.
