Waypoints

People, places, and events on life’s journey.

A waypoint is a landmark along a route traveled by modern navigators and ancient wayfarers alike. The series “Waypoints” represents people, places, and events encountered by artist John Mccaskill on life’s journey, expressed in binary patterns, colors, and textures. The use of tribal design illustrates our shared indigenous roots and our primal quest for knowledge.

Subtle components within the work express the ambiguous tapestry of everyday existence, while others aim to define and signify life’s focal points with more clarity. Through pattern, fiber-layers, and texture, the work is both universal in its focus on the seasons and personal in addressing an intersection of people and experiences. Both have opened unexpected paths to new experiences and personal discovery.
